The Lawrence Group Serves as Project Architect on
Historic Fourth Street on Chouteau's Landing
St. Louis -- March 14, 2006 -- The Lawrence Group is serving as project architect on the $18.75 million mixed-use
renovation of more than 10 historic buildings on Fourth Street at Chouteau’s Landing and new infill construction on adjacent
vacant lots. The project will transform the area into 190,000 square feet of mixed-use space including commercial, retail and
loft-style office space.
The Fourth Street development area extends from 744 to 914 South Fourth Street in downtown St. Louis. The buildings are
located on the east side of South Fourth Street from Chouteau Avenue to Cedar Street. The Lawrence Group will provide
architectural design, masterplanning, streetscape design, and branding and identity for the renovation of the historic
buildings and new construction.
Through the combined efforts of Chivvis Development, L.L.C., The Lawrence Group, Jamestown Constructors, Inc. and Ladue
Engineering, the development will restore and replicate the architectural details of the 1880s historic buildings, enhancing
the distinctive and unique cast-iron storefronts.
Our focus is to maintain the historic fabric of the neighborhood while modernizing and preparing the buildings for the next
100 years,” said Tim Rowbottom, project manager for The Lawrence Group.
The Lawrence Group will renovate and repair portions of the buildings that have been exposed to the weather, including
decaying walls, floors and roofs. The Lawrence Group also will reproduce period-appropriate architectural details.
The Lawrence Group is one of the largest architectural, interior design and town planning
firms in St. Louis with more than 150 employees in five states, including network offices in
Austin, New York City, Denver and the Carolinas. Named in the “Top 100 Giants” by Interior
Design magazine, The Lawrence Group offers design, project delivery and real estate
