7th annual Symphony Showhouses & Gardens set for CWE

St. Louis -- July 30, 2004 -- The Saint Louis Symphony Volunteer Association presents the 7th annual Symphony Showhouses and Gardens, sponsored by National City. The event opens September 15 and continues through October 3, 2004. This year’s event will highlight the renovation and design of three historic homes in the Central West End neighborhood, located at 21, 43 and 59 Maryland Plaza (across from the fountain). The homes, built 1904-1906 will be transformed into eight modern condominiums which will spotlight the talents of local interior and landscape designers.

"I'm truly inspired by the transformation of these three historic city treasures into vibrant living spaces. I applaud the architects, designers and everyone involved in making these homes part of the Symphony’s Showhouses event," said Millie Cain, 2004 Symphony Showhouses chairperson. "I hope area residents make plans to join us for a tour and in turn offer their support to the Symphony’s education and outreach programs."

Tickets will go on sale August 9th for the Showhouses tour and can be purchased at Dierbergs Markets, Plaza Frontenac, and the Powell Symphony Hall box office. Ticket costs range from $20 for advance purchase, including Twilight Evenings, to $22 at the door. Special discounts are available for groups of 10 or more for $18. Proceeds from Showhouses help to fund the more than 300 free community events the Symphony sponsors each season. For more information on Showhouse tours, call 314-286-4468.
